Abstract
This research was undertaken to investigate the effect of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology on the performance of Islamic banks in Iraq. Digital transformation within the banking industry has resulted in an accelerated integration of AI as a significant factor in improving banking performance (or enhancing) through digital transformation. The study employed a descriptive-analytical research design using primary data collected from 50 respondents via a structured survey (questionnaire) that was distributed to employees working in the Iraqi banking system. Of the 50 respondents, 40 were ultimately analyzed using the SPSS statistical program and the AMOS v23 to test the hypotheses regarding AI applications and their impact upon banking performance using a structural modeling approach. The research results indicate that both the growth of AI applications and the training of employees will contribute to enhancing banking performance within the Islamic banks that operate in Iraq. The results of this research have significant implications for banking managers and policymakers who wish to enhance the performance of banks located within the Iraqi banking system.
